Yup, hence the user name

I spent the first 20 years of my life living in Lancashire (I still speak the language) but I've never heard of Lancashire Day.

Well, now you have, bhg ๐Ÿ˜‰.

It is to mark the day in 1295 on which representatives from Lancashire were sent to Parliament for the first time. Though the first 'Lancashire Day' wasn't held until 1996 - maybe why you'd never heard of it.

There we go then, Ken. 1966 when I moved away from Lancs.

Happy Lancs Day to all!  For me, especially to Lynne's family & friends ๐Ÿ˜Š

Sounds like a good excuse for some Lancashire cheese.

Lancashire cheese is so expensive but love it, especially when it's toasted.

Happy Lancashire Day!

Tilly, yes, Lancs has some good cheeses.  Not all are expensive.  Morrison's pre-packed 'Crumbly' is much the same as others and really good toasted.  Now it gets dearer if you are looking at a Garstang Tasty or.... all sorts of others.  I used to buy some wonderful Lancs. Tasty on Skipton Market..... and I'm from Yorkshire!!!

What then is the significance of fourteen85 ?

Just to let everyone know the 1st of august trumps the 27th november.

^^^ . . . but not as well as 21 June does ๐Ÿ˜‰

Happy Lancashire Day!

Love the accent..๐Ÿ˜€

Ignore my 1495 question - I've just found the answer on wiki.

Songs and verses in Lancashire dialect, owd lad!

frip-frip  18.32 - I was trying not to express sorrow that our August 1st was bound to have better weather - and better all round.... there's a new Civil War brewing now..... and Lancs. cheeses  are   good.  :)
