Well still in a strop

You could have made it clear to him months ago that you weren't interested in him, Abbey (if he actually is interested in you as more than a friend), but you've kept on accepting lifts, lunches, dinner, the watch, as well as considering accepting invitations to go out with him and his friend(s).

Abbey, everyone keeps giving you the same answer.  Please listen.  Scorpiojo is right.

You should have made it clear months ago that you were not interested in him.  Instead you accepted lunches etc. - you encouraged him in fact.  I'm almost starting to feel sorry for him --- ALMOST is the word --- because in old fashioned language (which is what I use) you have been 'leading him on' and that is neither wise nor fair to either of you.

There is a share of blame for the situation to be laid at your door.  Now, let's start again without blaming him for everything.  I expect that he is in 'a strop' and that is well for a breathing space. I hope that this will end his association with you, but bear in mind everything I have said, please.

Do not accept freebies unless in a relationship.  Hope this helps.

Well said, jourdain.

melv16's comment should be removed.  It is derogatory. Abbey was just naive IMHO, based on many of her posts.

I think we have all got to know Abbey quite well and she finds saying no to other people so hard - even friends who pressure her to do things their way. She likes to have reassurance about how to handle situations and hopefully will develop more self confidence. All we can do is keep offering advice and the benefit of our experience to help guide her when she asks for help.

...and I really do hope that Abbey takes note of all the caring advice given.
