When my darling Tablo tried to convince me, by loads of pathetic miaowing, that she was firmly stuck on the roof of my house with no possible way down, shaking a packet of Dreamies and then throwing some onto the footpath quickly helped to change her mind!
In 1983, my dad was still farming. I would think nothing of nipping up the ladder to the top of the grain bins to close the top door if it started to rain. We also fired the stubble (although I only ever did the open headlands), where we would skirt the field with a pitchfork of burning straw on it.
And that is just two things we did. There is much more. I have no idea how we survived.
Cats can be stoopid!! I taught all my previous cats to jump onto my shoulders so if they are ever stuck at height, that's 5 ft they don't have to jump. This latest pair think that me bending my head over is a climbing frame for the one still on the ground!!
Thankfully we have no chimneys round here, but Miss Emily routinely goes to the top of two very tall trees (probably about 40 ft up) and then sits there looking very smug.
