Hi,

Can anybody help?

I have recently had an upgrade to a nokia 6230i. I am struggling for money at the moment so am selling the upgrade. I have put my new sim in my old phone nokia 6230 and when people ring me it just says "call" and not who it is (i have asked why this on AB before and none of the helpful suggestions worked). My text messages have been coming through with peoples actual names. Now however, I am not getting text messages through at all. I am worried to ring Orange in case they ask me why I havent put my sim in my new phone. Do you think they have somehow disabled my old phone? What should I do?

Thanks.

The reason it says call and not the number is that you will have the names stored on your old sim and not you old phone. Transfer the phone book names and numbers from your old sim to your phone memory. Why did you get a new sim. This is usually when you are given a new phone number
I shouldn't think they've disabled your own phone, but the sim card is possibly geared to the function of new phone. Give them a ring anyway, I shouldn't think it's prob that you sold upgrade but if you don't feel comfortable admitting it, tell you drove over it or something and it's knackered so you chucked it, but rescued the sim-they might be able to do sim update or something so it works properly with your old phone. No idea if this'll work I'm no mobile expert-just a suggestion cos I find the same thing when I put new sim in old phone and I'm with orange too.
<PRE>I've had this before when I have had a contact saved twice. Once on my phone and once on my sim. The phone doesn't know which one to display so it just says "call"</PRE>

Hi,

Thanks for all your help and suggestions. I rang Orange and told them my brother had borrowed my new phone (such a liar!!). They have sent me a sim update and I am delighted to tell you that it is working perfectly now!

Many thanks!
