I didn't know that these impacted on vision, Peter - the things that you learn on AB.
I would say glaucoma is the easiest to treat - glaucoma can be a cause to macular degeneration and it also attacks the retinal nerve.... Blindness is the result of doing eff-all as to all three conditons.
barry1010. I don't know if this will help, but my dad was also sighted in one eye only (other one damaged in schooldays when a glass tube broke and went into it. He developed Glaucoma. This is a long time ago late '80s, there was some sort of op. to release the pressure. The eye was conical because of pressures but thy made a contact lens to fit - it was tricky to do but we managed every day - and he had his vision until he died.
My cataracts were removed during lockdown (people were scared to go into hospital so they had spaces) and were insisted upon by the Dr. checking me for Glaucoma. He said that very often the deposits causing the cataracts were blocking the eye 'drains' and contributing to the pressures.
He was right, the pressures dropped back to the mid-teens and I now go once a year for checking. So far, so good (fingers firmly crossed).
I don't know anything about the MD or the other conditioin really. Hope you get the cataracts removed, I couldn't believe how light everything was. Good luck. x
