Facebook Messenger

Messenger no longer works in older devices. After that update thing I asked about before mine on iPad and iPhone are fine. But my sister not techy at all but has older iPad from family and only uses fb for FaceTime and messenger nothing else. Messenger says cannot update on this device. I thought as long as it was on the device it ran on an older version of the app. I tried googling it but said something about if you had not updated within 90 days you would be no longer able to connect fb with messenger. Anyone with an older device had this happen?

Facebook Messenger requires iOS 8 or above.  However iPad users with iOS 7 or earlier can still access their messages by opening their web browser and going to Facebook.com:

Buenchico I think her iPad is 9.1.1 not certain tho.she does not understand what I was asking her to look in settings. I will try your suggestion when I see her 3miles from me. Thank you again.

I have charged up an old iPhone 5 it has iOS 10.3.3 but messenger off on it as well. I cannot get on to Facebook.com. It says sign in then a cookies page comes up then it's frozen can't get anywhere. Thought I would try it out and manage to help her.

Try installing a different browser.  Nearly all of the main ones require iPadOS 11 or later but Puffin runs under iPadOS 8 or later

Once you've done that, you should (hopefully) be able to access Facebook.com
