Tonight we change the clocks to BST. Overnight we put the clocks forward one hour. I have left written notes in my house to remind me. Do Abers remember it or need reminding?.

Euch, I have about twenty mechanical watches to adjust ever since I decided that they're not necessarily "manacles to a prescribed system" ;-)Oh well, here goes...

I don't need reminding, everything changes itself apart from the mantle clock and car clock.

^all my clocks (and most of my watches...I have a lot!) are radio-controlled...so change themselves. Even the clocks in the car, barry!

I usually remember to change my clocks.  (Actually, I need to remember NOT to change the clock that's next to me on my desk as I type, as my hobby requires that to permanently show UTC).

However I know that many people forget to do so.  In over a decade of refereeing Sunday league football matches in Sheffield, there was only one year when (on the Sunday when the clocks had gone forward) both teams turned up with a full complement of players.  On all of the others, one or more players turned up an hour late.  (We once kicked off with just 8 players on one side and 7 on the other!)

My car is an old banger, I'm surprised I don't need a key to wind the clock up.

Shouldn't complain, it's right six months of the year

Cheers!

No, we just remember it.  Hooray, my car clock will be correct again for a while!

I did read that somewhere during the week but you have reminded me, William. Thanks 😊 Time passes so quickly!

This is the first time since 1888 that the spring solitice Saturday has fallen at Easter. The next one is 2185(I think) making this the first time that the clocks go forward at Easter since summer saving had not been adopted the last time .

In the UK the clocks go forward 1 hour at 1am on the last Sunday in March, and back 1 hour at 2am on the last Sunday in October. So not dependent on the date of equinox. Also, we have GMT for about five months in the year, BST for about seven months, not a 50 / 50 split.

Thankfully most of my timekeeping devices change themselves now, but thanks for the reminder as I'd have forgotten despite knowing full well that it's tonight!

Do you have a mechanical GMT watch?

I thought I'd done the right thing by changing my watch before I go to sleep. I've just realised I put it back an hour.
