1 In 3 Have A Veg Patch?
Just heard this claim on TV and find it hard to believe. I live in a cul de sac of 28 houses, all with good gardens some up to a third of an acre. We are the only veg growers.
So, was this claim true? Many folk don't have a garden of any size

I had a house with quite a small garden but I still grew tomatoes and melons. Another house I had had a massive conservatory so again I grew tomatoes, cucumbers and melons there and spuds, sweetcorn, herbs, and salad leaf outside. Here we have a large veg patch and a greenhouse and grow all sorts of stuff. We've got fruit, herbs, spuds and garlic on the go at the moment and then we have tomatoes, squash, cucumbers and I am not sure what else the Head Gardener has coming on in the greenhouse.
You weren't watching Dave on the telebox by any chance were you, when you heard the statistic? If so, it may be a repeat that had been recorded ages ago, back when more people had gardens and could afford their own properties. Two of the places I rented, within the last 10 - 15 years, wouldn't allow for any changes to be made to the garden, and that included planting anything - crazy I know.
All joking aside, I could believe that, given what Barmaid has said.
