Tennis And Football Has Taken Over Our Weekend

Sorry but I hate both Tennis and Football. 

OK that might be influencing my fury, but why are sports events like these allowed to ommit regular prime time shows which I had planned to record in my planner?

 

Both The Wheel on Saturday night on BBC 1 was over ridden, and tonight's Auntiques Roadshow was over riden by tennis. 

 

How is this allowed to happen? It's basically ruined our weekend.

 

Surely we have sports channels for this?

And of course a lot of points today are won by way of errors, rather than winners.

I tend to agree with renegadefm.  Sport seems to rule the TV at the moment with the Euros and  Wimbledon and the Olympics coming up. I actually like sport but don't particularly want if force fed down my throat day in and day out. Wimbledon the other day started at about 12 with a short break for the news and then carried on til about 9.15, followed by Today at Wimbledon on both Bbc1 and2. The thing that does irk me is when there's extra time in footy and they continue coverage (fair enough) but they don't put a note on the screen saying when the next programme will be shown. Minor rant over 😉

If your weekend was ruined by a change in the TV schedules, (and the said sports were not really a surprise to anyone), you should think yourself really very lucky that your problems in life amount to only that.

The Wheel viewing figures are approx 5.5m, whereas the viewing figure for Eng v the Swiss was 16.8m. You are very clearly in the minority and if anything should be relegated to a minor channel it was The Wheel.

But that's my point, I cherish these little moments the television can bring, so to have it disrupted needlessly is very frustrating.

You say its family time to sit down and watch TV, have you considered turning off the TV and playing a card or board game instead?

Of course I'm moaning, complaining whatever, but it kinda backs up my argument when I discover I'm not alone with this complaint.

 

If we were living in the dark ages with only 2 or 3 channels then I haven't got an argument. 

But with hundreds of channels which should bring choice, it seems a needless thing to steam roller over prime time tele. That's how I see it.

We've got the Olympics coming soon.

The tv channels deliberately put repeats immediately following live sport in case the sport over runs.  That seems the right thing to do.

As you said yourself, renegade, their are many other channels which means you can watch something else.  You can also watch old episodes of your favourite series on iPlayer, ITVX etc totally free of charge.  Or maybe find series that you didn't watch when they were first broadcast.   If there were still two channels you'd have a valid reason to complain but you have lots of choice.
