Nigel Farage reckons that Boris Johnson was the beginning and the end of the Tory Party Downfall. I agree with Farage and I hope the Tories bring Johnson back into their party.😎

I think Boris was the beginning of the downfall, but Truss and Sunak didn't exactly help.

Massive numbers of Tory voters had decided, me included, that if the boats were stopped, status quo.  If they were not stopped SKS was in.  The boat scenario is alive and well and sadly there will be much, much more civil unrest because of it.  The government is now Labour and their problem to solve.  If they do not nip this successfully in the bud now, they will repent at leisure. It will start in bye elections which will obviously arrive in the normal way.

I don't think ANYONE thought that KS would do better with illegal immigration. It may have been a failure for the Tories but I don't think there was any expectation that Labour would do better.

Then why did SKS put it in his pre-election speech?

"Step three – we will launch a new Border Security Command with new specialist investigators, new resources, and new powers – including counter-terrorism powers. These vile criminals are making a fortune putting vulnerable people in boats made to order, sending them across the busiest shipping lane in the world. Nobody but nobody should be making that journey"

Of course they won't do any better. It needs an iron fist.

It wasn't all that long ago the Tories were begging Farage to come and take over the Tory party.Perhaps even he could see that it would take a miracle to undo the damage that Boris has done .And will keep the Tories out in the wilderness for years to come.

Because it sounds like a solution, which is what you offer when you want votes.

It's not a solution, obviously, but it sounds like one, and in modern politics, that appears to be sufficient.

Boris didn't destroy the Conservative party single handed.  He ain't that bright . He had a lot of help from Liz Truss🤣

And Boris's message to the Tories is ."When we get back in don't be too hasty to get rid of successful election winning leaders" But you have got to get back in though first Mr Johnson and you and Brexit are the main reasons your lot are out and in opposition.

Boris didn't destroy the Conservative party single handed.

my god he had a good go - 2019 commissioners were put in to go aorund the constituencies and ask ( prospective candidates)  " are you for Boris" - and the wrong answer meant you were out on your arriss

Farage and Boris don't see eye to eye. Little point of speculating on the reason why for a particular incident.

The Tory downfall was initially approached when a split Tory party made life difficult for their leader who was merely trying to get the expressed will of the people achieved. Half of them seemed as bad as the illiberal undemocratics, and that's saying something.

Red wall voters lent the Tory party their votes to get us out of the EU and see projects that would benefit those up north. With the exception of a 'no deal' break, that which Boris achieved was probably the best a miffed EU would agree to. But obviously being flawed it needed revisiting, and no one has done what was necessary to force that.

The final nails were down to leaders since Boris. Lack of understanding how markets react led to economic difficulties. Lack of any real progress on the things they were voted in to do secured their defeat.  Embargoes on Russia and the cost of supplying arms to Ukraine added to the country's stress.

Bringing Boris back is probably too little too late, but if they aren't going to offer the members the choice of Suella then it may be their next best option.
