No one alive today was involved in slavery, no one alive today is a victim of slavery. So what's going on? Do they just want us to give random sums to random people?

Perhaps we could invoice these countries for all the infrastructure, roads, railways and schools we built there?

When you consider that one of the biggest crimes against humanity was the holocaust, why is it that Poland and other affected countries don't keep banging on about "reparation" from Germany.

And how about some reparation for Lee Rigby. That was one of the most savage crimes I have ever known and those affected ARE all alive today.

How about some sort of education fund?  This might help societies which are still suffering from the effects of slavery move on.

I guess the descendants of people who were enslaved by the Spanish, French, or Portuguese, would logically look to those countries for reparations.

My forebears didn't enslave anyone, they were too busy being exploited in the coal-mines and mills of Lancashire and the fields of Somerset to have time to do such a thing.

...and what about invasions and slavery of Britain? Britons were enslaved by foreigners, yet nobody from the UK is demanding reparations from other governments. Consider these invaders of Britain:

1. Romans, 55 B.C. Why aren't we demanding reparations from the Italian government?

2. Vikings, 947 - 1016. Why aren't we demanding reparations from the Scandinavian governments?

3. Normans, 1066. I hear nothing about the UK's demands from the French government.

4. Prince Louis of France, 1215-1217. Are we sending a delegation to the French government?

Countries who demand compensation from the present-day UK government are simply "trying it on", because they see us as a soft touch. Well, then, UK government show us that we are not a soft touch!

"This might help societies which are still suffering from the effects of slavery move on."

Are you talking about the effects of slavery people are suffering from when we were involved in salvery over 200 years ago?

If you are, what are these effects?

Cant we just say sorry for the slavery and that, but we will help you return to your ancestors lands in Africa,we can supply the ships etc,you will be going back to your"roots",etc.I will put a lot more money to help all the Jamaicans,Bermudans,Bahamians go back to Africa.I hope they like it there.

i thought Nigeria was a rich country, I'm always gettin emails asking me for my bank details to help transfer money for a multimillionaire who wants to give his fortune away
