After for many repeatedly vowing to abolish University Fees he has now increased the cost of studying.

How many more promises is this capable of breaking?

"After for many repeatedly vowing to abolish University Fees he has now increased the cost of studying."

Good. It may stop a few more young people being conned into the notion that delaying getting a job for three years and ending up with a worthless degree and a mountain of debt is a good idea.

What?!!!  Another one! 😃 That's what that woman said wasn't it? 😊

I believe they havent risen for 9 years so maybe it was time no matter the party in power

Correction its 8 years and was published in the Express

Keir Starmer said in May they were likely to move on from that pledge because of the financial situation the country was in.

For most students though it won't mean an increase in repayment costs as they are just a graduate tax, a  % of income above a threshold. Most never repay their loans on full now so even fewer will in future.

they drpped that pledge 18 months ago

& still the English pay for Scots to get it free !!!!!!!!!

0P..And how will this affect you then Gramps 85.?.

Gulliver, for all you know gramps might be the Bank of Gramps to his family.  It could affect him a lot.

I want to know how the cost of studying will affect Gramps..???

why should he anwer someone who constantly refuses to answer questions himself/?

also webbo, they dropped that pledge 18 months ago (significantly before they were elected)

the world is a different place since 2017

Now this Labour government are being accused of breaking manifesto promises they never made.

What is of more interest in the Sun linked article, is that it was a Tory government that hiked the tuition fees from £3,000 to £9,000 (a 200% increase) in 2012; compared with Labour’s 3.1%.

Okay Hymie....but who introduced them? Blair's government.

I agree with bednobs, Gulliver.  You are hardly in a position to demand answers from other people.

 Hymie

Now this Labour government are being accused of breaking manifesto promises they never made.

Who has done that?

Hymie... Blair introduced them at £1000  then also tripled them.

Most of the students that go to university are wasting their time.
