Sister has been complaing of a very itchy back these past few days.  I bought a spray for the back, sudocreme, cortisone 1% oh and back scratcher nothing is helping.

I believe myself it is coming from late shock and nerves.

She wants me to bring old sheets and pillowcases tomorrow because she thinks it is the starch in the sheets - I will do of course but I was wondering would any of you have any better ideas of what to get her.

Also she is now in a recovery unit which to me is lackadaisacal and whilst she is now able to sit on a chair for 20 minutes she wants into bed again - she hasn't had one shower - should she have had one or is it too soon.   And should I ask the staff tomorrow to give her a wee one.  Think she has just had bed wash.

This is has been an ordeal for me as I haven't been looking after people like that for many a year.   Thanks for any advice

What is she recovering from?   Why should it be too early for a shower?

It might be worth trying some of this on your sister's back; it works on my feet

I agree with bhg.

I use E45 cream a lot. The standard cream says it's for itchy skin as well as dry skin.

Hospital sheets  aren't starched any more...  Just try a cooling wipe down with unscented wet wipes, or a plain wipe and tepid water, this might help, you could ask them to provide a cream called dermacool, it can be prescribed.  Works brilliantly on itches where there is no obvious cause.
