...to all who have supported me and entertained me. It has been the most difficult year for me and AB has helped me out.
I shall be off the radar for some time but, hopefully, I will be back ;)
I wish you all well and hope that your year ends peacefully .
Yes, in other words, a Happy Christmas to everyone. Take care and look after yourself and others. A good deed does go a very long way. xx

Alba, you made me laugh! Believe it or not I am an exemplary hospital patient. My SOH has occasionally got me in trouble (unbelievably) but I am mindful that not everyone will share it.
However, I have met my consultant surgeon - absolutely lovely man and the anaesthetist who ectured me for a long while on my smoking. To be fair I have tried to cut it down, a lot. He then did a fitness test for the heart and lungs. I am notoriously bad on a treadmill and staff usually have to get a doctor to attend to me afterwards. This week I was on an exercise bike - deep joy in the fundy mental lode! I have never had so many ecg points stuck on me and they gave me a bumbag thing in which to hold the battery pack. I had more leads on my lap and upper legs - looked like I had thrown loads of cooked spaghetti down myself.
With a weird rubber mask on my face into which he had fixed the breathing tube I sounded like a poor Darth Vader when I had to speak. I nearly killed myself but I completed the test. Took slightly less time and cold water to recover than I did on treadmills.
Whilst he waited for 1 computer to talk to another he again lectured me on my risk factor. Eventually he entered all the details to his computer calculator and his face fell. I steeled myself for the result. Smoked for over 60 years many of which I had abused myself with 60 a day. The lowest risk is 1%.
I had a risk factor of 1.5%. The moral of the story is if you are a heavy smoker - lose 6 stones in just over 2 years ;) He didn't lecture me further ;)
Hey choux π
I haven't popped in or even looked at AB recently for various reasons but I'm so glad I did today and saw this.
I so hope your pretty serious sounding op goes as well as it can and you make a speedy recovery. You know what they say...keep on keeping on!!
Im sending you much love β€οΈ and some π and π, and look forward to you posting on AB again π
Goodness gracious - I feel overwhelmed by all of you who have been so kind to me here. I usually give a BA on my posts but not on this one as it may be construed dismissive of other posters and that would be unforgiveable of me.
My intention was to explain my absence to avoid unnecessary speculation and not to court sympathy. You have boosted me beyond compare. Bless you all xx
alba, good luck for next week and well done on the cessation, I hope you reap the reward xx
