Can anyone recomment a program that with scan my computer and repair any faults it may find.There are so many available, I have no idea which one to get.

Norton Utilities is pretty good for fixing Windows problems. It is probably up to version 2004 by now

I once bought Nortons 2002 which said it was fully XP compatible. However, the default XP disk format is NTFS which isn't supported according to the manual which you can't read until you've bought it and unwrapped it! The shop manager was distraught when I pointed this out as he'd sold loads on the strength that it could fix NTFS partitions. I didn't copy it before I took it back though! ;-)
