For me it's a saint's day.  Tradition and all that.

Boxing Day.

Good King Wenceslas looked out
On the feast of Stephen

I usually call it Boxing Day though

When I was small I used to think it was 'Good King Wences last looked out'!

In Gaeilge it's called Lá an Dreoilín

Elliemay, I thought the same.

To me now, it's the day after Christmas and I have a lot of clearing up to do.

>>> "In Gaeilge it's called Lá an Dreoilín"

I would hope though that, irrespective of which side of the Irish Sea that he might be in, Sandy would choose not to use a name which is based around cruelty to wildlife!

Does that refer to the hunting of Wrens?

PS: It's always been 'Boxing Day' to me.

I suspect that, even though they might well know the words to "Good King Wenceslas", the majority of Brits haven't got a clue as to when 'the Feast of Stephen' actually is!

>>> "Does that refer to the hunting of Wrens?"

Yup!

A third option maybe??

Just another day?

Boxing Day, does it not come down to what side of the religious divide you are on?

Good title for a song, nailedit!

I say hola

//I say hola //

Really must get my glasses changed.....

It's Boxing Day, and we've boxed up the unwanted gifts ready for the charity shop or the food bank!

Fr me it's both.  St. Stephen's day is the day when the apprentices opened their Christmas boxes, isn't it?  So it is both.
