It is disappointing, especially for the huge number of visitors who come to Edinburgh for the celebrations.  Here 30 miles south (on the coast), it is windy but, so far, nothing out of the ordinary.  The concert in the Gardens has been cancelled previously due to rain.  One thing - the hotels and pubs will be busy 🍾 🍷

Thre seems to be some sort of pleasure from the likes of the MET and MSM to whip the fear of God into everyone.  Got worse since Covid when they realised they could control the masses easily by fear.

On a much lesser scale, a planned New Year's Eve fireworks display on Blackpool prom has also been cancelled for the same reason.

Only time will tell whether these are wise decisions or not.

Insurance only pays out if steps have been taken to minimise loss.  If weather warnings are ignored, tough. 

Blame the current compensation culture.

New Year has certainly not been cancelled in Scotland - as if!!

Edinburgh may have decided against their celebrations in light of the weather forecast, but they are hardly Scotland.  Stonehaven's fireball celebrations, to name but one, will go ahead.  Here's tae us, wha's like us?  Damned few, they're a' deed!

Edinburgh have cancelled the Hogmanay party before, in 2003/4 and 2006/7 due to the weather. It is a shame for all those who have travelled, but could you imagine the uproar if anyone got hurt?
