My car is a fiesta 56 model . I have one key which automatically locks the door pressing a button and one you use manually. The one with the fob has started to not always lock or unlock the doors even though the battery is only 2 months old. Can I just use the manual one. My local garage said they don't reprogramme them and I don't really want to go to Ford's as they will charge an arm and a leg

Just use the key, My car does that open with the button but the lock button doesn't work but key in the drivers door will lock it all round the same as the button would.

Did you try replacing the battery ?  Perhaps it was old when you got the keys.

Old_geezer I had batteryreplaced in Sept as it came up on dashboard to replace it

the bit that transmits the "lock" signal is probably knackered nothing to do with programming so just use the key.

I had lots of trouble with the batteries but car was under warranty so batteries were replaced free from dealer.  Eventually they gave me new fobs and seems ok now.

I enquired about a new key . Price was £280 for manufacturers key and £180 for unbranded . For the amount of time I use it I will stick to manual . Thanks for your replies

Well I decided to get my key checked and their was a faulty switch in the fob. It works now but the lights don't flash when locking now. They do when unlocking. Any suggestions

I had an issue - came out of the chippy & the car wouldn't start "no key detected". Puzzled for a while, looked at the handbook, retried, no joy. Got out of the car & used the manual key to lock & unlock - car started as usual & no problem since.
