i agree with him, if for example i took a sub with netflix and did not like the content i could end it, but not with the bbc as it's enforced, i like coke-cola but get billed by pepsi..

When you stand back and look at it...the BBC is bloody awesome.

It's ultimate soft power. When you think of internationally recognised excellence, the BBC is what you think of.

When a journalist says "I'm from the BBC", it matters.

When a journalist says "I'm from the Daily Express", they're patted on the head and given crayons to play with.

Netflix is great at documentaries, Sky delivers excellent movie content, Apple is good at high-quality drama - but the BBC wipes the floor with them with the scope and range of their output.

Notice the Christmas television ratings - the whole country likes to criticise the Beeb, but the whole country tunes into the Beeb.

...but it's understandable that some would resent paying for the platform.

Totally undersandable. It'd be like being told, "You have to pay for GB News even though you never watch it and think it's output is a steaming pile of "horse leavings".

The BBC will eventually have to change its funding mechanism in light of the massive changes in the way we consume content.

It won't be easy.

Have you ever paid the licence fee sp?

The BBC are now known better for "protecting" paedophile and suspected sexual oddballs rather than their previously respected views, imo.

I recently received my reminder for not renewing, I still don't watch any live TV, but the tone of that letter, as with previous ones, is downright rude and accusatory.

Yes. For me, the tv licence is something I wouldn't even consider not paying.

You?
