Three things to consider are:
A. Age. If your cat is getting old then this could be a natural part of the aging process.
But more likely...
B. Stress. Has something happened recently in your household that might have put your cat on edge? Sometimes hair loss can mean that the cat simply is upset about a change, and dropping fur is it's body's way of reacting to the tension.
C. A disease. Sometimes if your cat gets sick, then they'll lose fur. Again, this is sort of an instinctual reaction type of thing.
Over all, I'd recommend taking your cat to the vet. That way you can get a professional opinion.
OR, as i discovered by worrying about my cat and his bald tail, it might just be his coming and going through the cat flat rubs him at certain points on his body - eventually leading to a completely bald tail (or back of neck - maybe)... hope it all works out -
you could try getting him a different type of flea collar, just to make sure its not that
Now this might sound a little bit weird, but sometimes cats can lose the fur on their necks when other cats try to mount them (Tom cats grab the female by the back of the neck & both sexes tend to do the same when they are trying to show their domination of a weaker cat) I know that sounds a bit strange...but I have noticed this before. So could he be being bullied by another cat in the house??
