Ok but I only got them in on monday and they are holding my wounds together so can I have a shower without them all dissolving and falling out?
Yep you can still shower, I had dissolvable last monday and they are still there, and I shower twice a day
my little boy had a hernia op when he was only two and a half and four days later he went to a kiddies party and was running about and bouncing on the bouncy castle with stiches and everything, so yes you'll be fine in the shower.

Thanks, I'm sweaty and stinky. Going to jump in there now :) x
I'm surprised they do not use disolveble stitches more, I had staoles a few years ago and they got infected, very nasty, if I had had dis stitches, I wouldn' have been left with a nast scar of pot holes, looks like a map of our high street on my tummy! Grrrr
Didnt you get a "post op info pack"? that tels you all you need to know about what you should and shouldnt do after surgery, in fact, im surprised the nurses didnt give you that type of information when you left the hospital,

I remember her saying something about showering and taking the plasters off but to be honest I was too sleepy to remember. Just wanted to check my tummy wouldn't fall out, although I only have three pretty small holes and only 4 stitches I have discovered since I had my shower :)
my post op pack said to shower each day and gently pat/dab not rub around the stitches, which as I had a vasectomy I cosidered that to be good advice. Happy showering.
A lot of "dissolvable" stitches dont dissolve at all ! Anyone I know who has had them, has had to get them cut out in a hospital
