Hmm - a strange one. I am sure the Speedtouch is physically disconnected - right ?
Which ISP are you using ?
Which Operating System are you using ?
Do you know if it a version 2 or version 1 WG111 ?
Do you know what version of drivers you are using ?
I know the WPN111 product well but not the WG111 - they are essentially the same device just that the WG is the 54MBps version.
Sorry for so many questions - just trying to getting a better picture of your setup.

Thanks for the info. I think you have pretty much idetified the issue in that your PC still expects to see a Speedtouch 330 device on that USB port.
Firstly I would fully ensure that all traces of the Speedtouch installation have been removed.
Ideally to do this you need the Speedtouch Setup CD - do you have one of these ?

The SpeedTouch CD Browser should start automatically. Choose your language and go to Install SpeedTouch USB/330 Software > Remove USB Software
Note If the SpeedTouch CD Browser does not appear automatically, open a Run window via Start > Run from the Start menu and enter the following path: D:\menu.exe, where D stands for the drive letter of your CD-ROM drive.
I also recommend that once the above is carried out, you download and run CCleaner to clear up anything that may be left.
Then I would reboot twice, the second time in Safe Mode.
Then Control Panel and Remove Programs to uninstall the Netgear s/w for the WG111. (you may have to run this in Normal boot mode)
Again, run the CCleaner to remove anything relating to Netgear. Reboot a couple of times with nothing connected to the USB ports.
Then download the latest Netgear driver s/w from here ;

You need to verify which version of WG111 and follow the appropriate link. The important thing is to fully install the Netgear software before rebooting and connecting the WG111.
Sorry this is so long but I think it should help. Let me know how you get on - Good Luck !
