I like a drink or two, not everyday, but maybe 3 or 4 times a week, but not excessively, thats why I wanted to know. If all its going to make me do is go sleepy then thats not a problem, as long as I wake up again!
I have been on anti depressants in the past, and have drank alcohol. The thing is , when you are a bit low, you tend to have a few drinks sometimes to try and make yourself feel better.
But alcohol in the long run, is a depressant. So you end up ruining all the good the tablets have done.
As long as you are not driving or operating machinery (as instructions always state)
no no no I dont intend to drink to forget , I mean casual drinking which can be anything from a glass of wine to a bottle. I guess that I shouldnt overdo it and not drink more than half a bottle.
My doctor said that one glass of wine would feel like two. He said one glass of alcohol should be okay. On the information leaflet it says, as with all anti-depressants it is best to avoid alcohol. I don't drink any at the moment. I would ask your doctor though just to be sure.
it all depends on the kind of medication.
its like painkillers.
a simple rule is if the med. label states strictly avoid alcohol then do so .
avoid means have a drink but dont binge.
Sorry for late reply filthiestfis. Dont come on the site much. Yes tablets did work for me. Saved me going mad at one time!. Stick with them, you will know when you feel well enough to come off them. But dont come off them too quickly. Take care x
