Foxes (again!)
11 Answers
OK, so nothing seems to work to keep these pests out of the garden. They are impervious to security lights, higher trellis nailed to the fence,strung-up sticks round the flower beds etc etc. They are destroying the lawn, piece by piece, even the turf which we've put down to cover the holes they've made. My husband's pride is his garden and it's making him ill.
I recently read of a marksman for hire, legally it seems.
Does anyone know who this guy is and where he can be reached?

Human urine thrown around will deter them .
Killing foxes will not solve the problem and you risk terrible fallout with neighbours who may be feeding them. For every fox you kill, there are ten more in the neighbourhood waiting to move in.

Listening to Radio One last weekend (i think) Vernon kay was discussing foxes. Apparently you can buy a product called Tiger Dung which you spread across your garden and it deters foxes & cats.
Please think carefully before hiring an exterminator. If my neighbour hired a man with a gun to sit in their garden I would call the police.

Corbeau, as a licensed pest controller I have been called out to destroy fox on occasions with a rifle, however the fact that it is messing up your lawn or any amount of money would not motivate me to destroy that fox for doing what comes naturally.
You would need a far better reason than that!!
I would usually only cull a fox to put it out of its misery or on occasions when the fox is taking a lot of farm stock.

While I am certainly not an animal first fanatic, I couldn't agree more with those who find fault with your hiring a "hitman"or even doing that job yourself. This animal is not in your garden to dig holes. It is digging holes to get food (grubs, moles, gophers). I should think your husband would be glad to be rid of them. If you remove the food source the fox will dig in your neighbor's yard.
I live in a flat within a complex, there are foxes in the area and I think a den in the complex. I dont consider them pests, nor want to kill them however, they are extremely noisy at between 11 and 4 at night. So much so that we have been woken up every night for the last week and a bit!It is getting to the point where I dont care if they are shot by myself or a hired person.... so any suggestions would be welcomed. (relocation etc)
