if you try and listen closely to a lit candle, that can cause it.

I know this isnt the answer your looking for but always remember... when your ears burn its left someones talking about you with love and if it right someone gossiping about you

Yes its left for love and right for spite! However, as a nurse, I think it actually has something to do with the sympathetic response - fight or flight - dilating the cells and vasculature causing the reddening, like blushing, though that does not explain why your ears redden when you are doing very little!
