While RC is not my cup of tea (I'm not sure what is!), I think that to call them gnostic is going too far.

Whiffey - The RC church put equal weight on scripture AND tradition. There's always an "AND" with a cult.
Gnostic? Yes, they claim to have "gnosis", ie only the magisterium of the RC church can interpret the scripture - a nonesense of course.

RC DOCTRINE - I can't speak for individual RC's, believes in idolatory, confession to a mere man, transubstantiation in the mass, infallible popes, praying to dead people and so it goes on.

It is a world away from the simple truth of the Bible.

to think that people are only good because of god is ridiculous - firstly millions of religious people are NOT good people - the news all over the world is full of incidents involving church goers

and secondly millions of non religious people are good people.

i do not need to read some book to tell me right from wrong and how to be a good person

(i have never been to church in my life, save for weddings funerals etc and I have no criminal record, do not commit crimes, regularly work for and donate to charity, buy from and give lots of stuff to charity shops, as well as occasionally doing a shift when i can, etc etc etc - i even throw pennies on the floor so someone else can pick them up and believe they will have a day of good luck! So as you can see i am evil beyond compare...)
