I'm wanting to lighten my hair, I currently have black/blue hair, and I'm wanting to go Dark Brown.

Will it work best to bleach my hair blonde, then dye it dark brown? becuase i know just putting brown dye on wont work as it's lighter than my current colour.

I wouldn't even attempt this myself, if I were you! Go to the hairdressers and get it done, just in case it all goes pear shaped!x

Thanks for the advice, but when yur a student who is over her overdraft limit, it kinda can't be afforded to go the hairdressers.

I've dyed my hair quite a few times before, i just need advice on colours
I wouldn't bleach it! Just dye it with a permanant brown colour designed for dark hair, their should be lots of these in boots and I'm pretty sure herbal essences do a range which is what i used- it leaves your hair smelling LUSH!
i used to die my hair brown, but i left it on too long once and it went practically black. so i used a prelightner, its not a blonde hair dye, you leave it on and it basically strips the hair of its colour. its pretty risky cause it could turn your hair a strange orange colour. but i left it on until i could visibly see that it wasnt black any more and then i washed it off. i reckon you could use the prelightner so that its not jet back any more and then use a dark brown hair dye. hopefully cause you still want a dark hair colour it should work out ok. good luck! : )
