Thanks smouse, another one where the answers in the clue!
I had been looking for all sorts of horseracing connections, to no avail. You wouldn't believe the possible coloured cups he'd had presented in his name, all but virid! Which Peter Pan do you think is right, fashion or scarlet?

Yes please Crofter 17) See through it i.e.porthole(10)
24) Symbolically its always found in laughter (4)
28)Sunburnt 17th century Flemish artist (3,4,5)
32)Darkest tincture in heraldry (5)
Thank you.
it's "Scarlet" otherwise you don't have a colour!
24) Check up "pink laughter"
32) Sable (= Black)
17) Aquamarine (= the blue of sea water)
Only one to go?
Could it be 'gold' with the symbol au being in laughter?
Could it be 'gold' with the symbol Au being in the word laughter?
I think Lizzie has just sparkled! The operative word is "symbolically" and the answer is indeed GOLD.

The fact that there is "pink laughter" is a "red herring"!!

Has the question about the Flemish artist been asked before?
Van Dyke Brown is the name of a pigment
Van Dyke was a Flemmish artist
Lizzy, I'm not doing this quiz and therefore not in control of the posting, but you certainly deserve three stars for your last two answers! Excellent work!
