i have recently found a lump in my neck i have had a needle test but they are concerned it could be cancer. why do they have to operate

If they are concerned it is Cancer, it is probably a good idea to get it removed, otherwise the cancer may get into the bloodstream and spread to other parts of the body and then it is much harder to treat.

It�s the best thing as if it is cancerous it can spread, my friend found a lump in his neck and it was cut out, simply procedure and only left small scar. It was cancerous so he had to have chemo.

Sometimes lumps are sybaceous cysts which are not too much of a problem and do not need operating on.
