Humane Slaughter

On Dutch TV last night:- Many Dutch are eating Hallal meat. Because the Muslims are allowed to Slaughter in their Ritual manner some Slaughterhouses have gone entirely over to this method. The meat is not labelled however so they are eating meat that many would say has been In-humanely slaughtered. Creeping Islam ?
Who says they won't ,eventually ,take over ?

thanks, clanad, I often wondered who the slaughterman was that I saw. I have to add, that having read a little more about kosher slaughter, I am coming to the conclusion that if done properly, it is possibly more humane than stun methods. Unfortunately, only the animals could tell us.

In both muslims and jewish knife or 'sharp blade' is used to slaughter the animal. That is the bottom line.

You have badly missed the main point of the whole debate here concerning the slaughtering the animal using a knife to cut the throat. This method is considered as 'inhumane' by the ABer that asks the question. And it goes further to discriminate against muslims for doing such acts.

Are keyvan and Doggy2 the same person?

At 12:20, Doggy said Homophobis rather than xenophobia.

At 13:47, Keyvan said "Sorry I meant phobia ..." About 15 minutes later apologized to Doggy. Then 40 minutes after the first post, Doggy2 came back on.

Shouldn't the Editor investigate this as a potential farse? If found out, shouldn't keyvan/Doggy2 be thrown off the site in disgrace?

This site assumes a certain level of trust and I am beginning to doubt some posters here.

Are we now to suspect that trolls who stir up ugly emotion are creating double identities so they can stir up multicultural trouble by posting from their office computer and arguing with themselves from their home computer? Sad.

This kind of deception will ruin this site.

Taking over? I find myself so surprised to see a comment like that on the answerbank.
I think the difference between hallal/kosher and general slaughterhouse practises lies with respect for the animals. Instead of keeping it humble, I have had first hand experience of watching young lads who know they are doing a horrible job, making fun of and teasing the animals before they slaughter them. I am sure this is to get over the fact that they are killing for a living, maybe hallal and kosher butchers would be different if they had to slaughter on a huger scale. I have seen all 3 being practised and none are pleasant/

here's the scenario -

I am a murderer, I have you locked up in my dungeon and I am going to kill you.
I am a nice murderer though so I am going to give you the choice of how you die...
Choice 1: - I will hang you upside down by your legs, cut your throat, and then leave you there to gurgle and splutter and watch your blood dribble into a trough, with a huge painful knife wound across your neck, knowing you are dying..
OR
Choice 2: I will shoot you through the head instantly...

Take your pick!

The ritual slaughter in Islam is termed as Zabah. Literally, the term Zabah means to purify as the purpose of Zabah is to purify the flesh of the animal from flowing blood. In Islam flowing blood is impure and prohibited for consumption. Among other reasons of flowing blood being impure, some are:

a) Flowing blood transfers nutrients to the tissue cells and returns with the waste products of the tissue cells. These waste products are harmful and are removed from the blood through the function of the kidneys.

b) Blood contains organisms which are responsible for various diseases.

c) The presence of flowing blood in flesh causes the flesh to putrefy.

It is therefore necessary to purify the flesh of the animal from the impure flowing blood, by extracting maximum blood.

In Islamic Jurisprudence, Zabah is to cut the neck in order to severe the two jugular veins, the gullet and windpipe. It will suffice if any three of the four blood pipes are severed. The spinal cord should not be severed as it maintains connection between the brain and the body which enables convulsion after slaughtering. Convulsion squeezes out the remaining blood in the body.

The Islamic procedure of Zabah enables maximum extraction of blood, within a close circuit. The purpose of extracting maximum blood has been explained. The purpose of rapid extraction of blood is to avoid blood clots. Both aspects, removing flowing blood as well as avoiding blood clots are equally important to health.
