Well not quite sure when he was 1st mentioned- but he was born in the 3rd century.

i remember being told at school (not relevant i know but just want to mention it) that......... if you say st.nicholas very very quickly with NO gaps!! over and over again it begins to sound like Santa claus?? well it kinda works for me.
