has anybody ever won a major prize without purchasing the product, ie, no purchase necessary?

I won an all-expenses paid trip for 2 people, to the Munich Beer festival a few years ago, simply by sending a postcard marked NPN (No purchase necessary). It was worth �1,500. I didn't purchase the product, just sent the entry. Does that qualify as a 'major' prize.?
