Not sure where this belongs but why is this toad a Sir - surely his fathers knighthood was a life time peerage and would have become void when Denis died. Also what is the African country he was recently connected too.
No I did not know the answer - I thought I did but wanted confirmation. Whilst I do not believe MT had anything to do with the war in Iraq I did think the financial aspect of Oil importing may have had something to do with his sudden (at the time) intrest in the democracy of any African state - or am I being cynical!!!!!
Maybe the rules in this country are wrong. Mark Thatcher is a criminal and is not allowed to enter certain countries such as the USA because of it. Why do certain recipients have to hand back their titles such as the MBE like that boxer recently? By having a hereditary title it only taints the previous holder and becomes 'like son, like father' instead. If he had any decency left he would hand the title back.
Did you know that David Hasselhoff is strongly rumoured to be going into the Celebrity Big Brother house, together with Jermaine Jackson and...other people whose names I've temporarily forgotten.
hey ric ror...you fire away your thoughts in any fashion you feel, there is no rules about how an argument can be shaped and where it can go. twists and turns of this sort are fabulous. just make sure you lambast Blair at every opportunity
I will not lamblast the savior of this country. I will not have a bad word said about him. I am old enough to remember the state we were in before him and I will be sad to see the back of him but look forward to GB for PM
Better do what you promised and stay over in the more intelectual subjects involving Chav TV. TB the saviour??? I would laugh but my heart is heavy for the destruction of Britain wreaked by His Tonyness.
Well I only thought that the last lot (under that woman who's name shall never pass my lips) systematically tried to destroy the infrastructure of all the things that I had once considered great about this country (NHS, Welfare State, Education sytem) - and that this lot (under savior Blair) - whilst not perfect - have made a greater sustained investment on all the above and tried to make us a society more compassionate to both the weaker in our society (yes I believe there is such a thing) and a welcoming refugee for people fleeing strife in other countries. But hey what do I know!!!!
Wow...I turn my back for five minutes and all hell breaks loose.
I'm with Ric.ror on this one. Thatcherism was fantastic for those who believe in individialism (for that read selfishness) and gave birth to the Britain we have today.
Who cares if we close the steel mills? Who cares if whole towns die?
Who cares about the miners? If you're entire community collapses because those at the top end want to maximise the profits that pay for their au pairs...who cares?
Certainly not 'society', because Thatcher proved that it didn't exist.
Whoah...sorry - got a bit of a nosebleed by climbing up onto my high horse so quickly.
If Tony is ruining the country, and he based a lot of his policies on Thatcherism...err...ya see where I'm going with this doncha!
By the way, I turned 40 last year, and can clearly remember what life was like from 1974-1979. It was a different world. It was a world where union power had gone unchecked.
But the problem is - it went way to far the other way when Thatcher came in.
Did you know that for ages, the Tories opposed a minimum wage?
