Blood pressure/ blood sugar

I just wanted to know at what rate does your blood pressure have to be to be classed as high?
Had a reading this aft on mums meter it read 140/93.
What does it all mean? Also is a blood sugar result of 7.6 normal?
Would appriciate your replies.

Normal blood pressure readings would typically be expressed as around 120/80.
A reading of 140/90 or greater would be considered high blood pressure. It would be worthwhile to take the pressure on a regular basis under the same conditions over a period of time to get meaningful results.
It is important to recognise that blood pressure can vary greatly throughout the day, and according to things like stress etc, so a single blood pressure reading is not necessarily indicative of anything.... Blood pressure readings must be taken in the same fashion and be consistent to be really meaningful.
In a similar fashion, a blood sugar reading has to be interpreted with caution. A normal reading would be around 4-8, but again can vary greatly throughout the day, dependent upon such things as time between test and last meal, nature of food etc.
Not sure if the results you got were from tests on yourself using your mums meter, or tests on your mum...but it would probably be worth consulting your GP with the information.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blood_pressure#Hi gh_blood_pressure this link gives a good overview of what blood pressure is and the meanings behind the values. Generally 120/80 is classed as 'normal'. Although there are guidlines medically for what high blood pressure is, this does depend on body specific elements such as weight etc.
As regards blood sugar, im sure wikepedia do a article to a similIar depth as the blood pressure one, but as far as i remember 7.6 seems about normal.
Hope this helps
