sterile services operative

I am 17 and my friend told me their is shortly an opening in our local hospital for a sterile services operative, before i apply i would like to know some more information about the role, like what do they do would i need qualifications etc., sorry if i sound vague, but i would like to prepare myself with info first.

Looking on google I found this:

Sterile services provide all theatres, wards and other departments with the equipment needed for clean and sterile procedures.
