Having endured her first traumatic week in the creche, my litte'un is truly under the weather with a very nasty cough and cold. The cough is worse when she's lying down so it is really affecting her sleep. The doc didn't prescribe anything other than calpol. She's been like this for about 5 days now and it's also affecting her appetite. Anybody lend any advice?
try a vaporiser such as the boots electric one. It has eucalyptus and menthol oils which can help with breathing and having a restful night. Or sit with her in a steamy room as this can clear the airways too.
Try raising one end of her cot if shes having difficulties when she is lying down too.
As for the feeding, as long as she is producing wet and dirty nappies and isnt dehydrated then she should be ok. Maybe try giving her foods that you know she will eat and up her milk intake for a bit.
For mine I put Karvol on a old cotton bib tied out of reach to her cot to help her breathe and put a folded blanket under each end of the cot sheet to raise her head. My daughter lost her appetite for a week or so but I just let her nibble what she fancied- a little yoghurt, jam sandwiches, banana etc- it does seem alarming when they are little but she will get over it and will be building up resistance to the next lot of bugs that come along. Good luck.
I would suggest Medised everytime, it really does aid restful sleep, it un-blocks their noses wonderfully, we even take it when we have colds - it works everytime. You have to get it from a chemist. Hope your daughter gets better soon.
