Since I live alone, I always buy the frozen salmon at the supermarket. They come in vacuum sealed plastic. If I had done what you did, I would probably add a layer of aluminum foil - but that might not be necessary.
I never thaw it before cooking, either in the oven or poached in the microwave. The leftovers are GREAT - you can just crumble them up and make them like you make a tuna salad with some mayo & olive oil - they make great wraps the next day or even on top of a green salad!
