I think when they mean the clock is ticking towards noon they were referring to the standoff between Russia and the USA during the cold war. Now the environmentalists have hitched their cause to the wagon. The real time should be 11 o'clock!

Russia and the USA are not the only states with nuclear weapons. It is the very existence of 27,000 nuclear weapons (2000 of them ready to launch within minutes) along with other human-made threats to civilisation (that have always formed part of the deliberations in setting the time until Doomsday) that now contribute to the hands of the Doomsday Clock having been advanced 2 minutes.

Then why by our Foreign adventures do we make ouselves a sitting duck for retaliation. We should indulge in more soft power because for the UK to threaten others by force is counterproductive. The USA has the means and weaponry to take care of the hard power. We should no longer be a satellite of the USA for missile defence or as an aggressor.
