I think Sony made the mistake of including a HD-DVD (Blue Ray) player with it. This raised the cost significantly with little benefit to the target audience.

It is supposed to be good but I think we have reached a point, as we have with blockbuster films these days, in that no amount of flashy graphics can make up for poor game play.

These are old figures but seem to suggest that people simply don't want to pay the premium for a HD player.

i would tend to agree with wowo with one exception.hd-dvd and blu-ray are competing formats.blu-ray is not an hd-dvd drive but i know what he was trying to say.

Exactly how would you define a good console?

Surely it's the games you're interested in and not whether the console looks good or not or is more powerful than Deep Thought?
