ripping cds to computer

my computer either won't rip the cd or is painfully slow . is there anyway i can speed it up ?

which peice of software are you using. I find windows media play the best. Using my dvd writer to rip them. They have much better laser pickups.
If you are using Windows media Player click on the properties and settings button for the cd drive, it is on right side of media player, its a small text doc with a red tick on it, next to the icon for erasing disc, (now if you burn your cd too fast it will not work, although most cds say on them 52x speed, I usually do mine at 32x) anyway click the recording tab, then look to the bottom to select your writing speed, 1x right up to 52x, then faster, as I say I urge you not to go above 32x, but if yours is set lower then you could change it to 32x, then click on apply and ok, hope that's of some help to you blue44, let us know how you get on with it
