Keeping sprouts fresh

Have just bought a long stem brussels sprouts from a farm shop. What's the best way of keeping them fresh and how long will they last for? Will they start to blow?

Keep them outside your back door where it's cold or at least cool, not where the sun can get to them and not confined. They can last for a couple of months like this; just break off what you need when you need them.

I have been told to stand them in a little water
