Laser Eye Surgery ???

I am thinking of having laser eye surgery to correct short sightedness and astigmatism. At the moment I wear glasses and contacts on occasion.

Anybody had it done ? Was it worth it ? Is it permanent?

my mum had it done in the summer for short she said it was fantastic the first time she read after the op she could see everything but week later it wears off slightly to how its going to be and it lasts about ten year i think she said! she would defo recomend it

Don't want to put you off it, but have a good think about it before you decide for sure.

My Aunt had it done and raved about it so much, it really worked for her. Her friend, (not just on her recomendation, but I supose it must have swayed her a bit!), went and had it done too, and she's lost a lot of sight in one of her eyes. Now I don't know the full story, but something didn't work, and her eyesight in that eye is worse now than before she had it done.

Like any surgery, make sure you find a reputable surgeon, talk it thorugh with them, and have a serious think about it.

Remember it is your eyesight after all.

I had it done about 9 years ago at Moorfields eye hospital to correct shortsightedness. It was very successful and for the first time in 40 years I didn't need glasses or lenses.

I had it done last summer, and I am so happy with it! It really is the best thing I've ever done. I had a bit of stress with my right eye, which was astigmatic, but simply because the incision wasn't straight, so took a bit longer to heal. But I've since heard that a laser is now used to make the incisions, instead of a scalpel, so no chance of ragged edges trying to heal any more. I would never have gone back, but it is a big thing to do. I mean, you only have 1 set of eyes, and you don't want to p*ss around with them. Just remember that the number of problem cases is minimal, and the technique is constantly being updated and improved.
