Hi

I heard that it's bad to go to the gym like two or more days in a row, this true? I can't remember where I heard this but I remember hearing that you need a day or two inbetween to relax.

It depends on what your goals are. If you are body building then yes 4 days a week is enough, but if its just fitness then the you can do 6 days no problem. it's only when your trying to bulk up that the muscle really need time to rest.
yeah i agree with vinrex.

if you intent on building muscle you need time for your muscles to recover so that the next time you are at the gym you are at your best to lift the weights equal or higher than the previous time.

If however you are focusing on fitness then the necessity to lift heavy weights is removed and so fatigue is not such a problem. However you must be wary that you dont go too far and cause burnout and cause you self damage from exhaustion or dehydration possibly leading to a longer spell away from the gym caused by continued tiredness.

The best idea i find would be to focus on different parts of the body on different days (obviously work other parts but not to the max) so that if you are going often then muscle groups dont fatigue from over use.

I think I'll go for the muscle building then :)

Thanks for the answers guys.
All good advice above. It's also worth pointing out that when trying to build muscle you cannot do the whole day in one go so by splitting body parts out you can train each day if you want, you should have at least one day rest a week though. Traditional splits are, for example:
Day 1 Chest/triceps
Day 2 Back/biceps
Day 3 Shoulders/traps
Day 4 Legs

Note you should aways do the big muscle groups first, so on day 1 for example do the chest first then the triceps. Note that the above can be cycled indefinately because there is at least 3 days rest between each. Also it's good idea to do at least 20mins cardio and some ab work each session. Good luck
what about if u want a flat stomach - ya know doin 3 reps of 20 sit ups an 3 reps of 20 russian twists etc?

how often should u go then?
