Have never seen them for sale, we used to pick them ourselves for wine making as they don't tend to be commercially grown as far as I know.

They should be hanging down rather than up and don't eat them raw as they contain natural toxins.

You could always try local farms to see if they have any you can pick or buy.

Not sure if you can get them this time of year, they tend to be an autumn fruit but could be wrong.

If you have a local wine shop you should be able to buy packs of dried berries which gives you the opportunity of making the wine out of season. I have tried these and have had an excellent result. You would use 8oz dried elderberries as opposed to 2lb fresh.
ElderFLOWER wine and elderBERRY wine are 2 completely different things - the former makes white wine from the flowers when they are white and beautiful and fragrant in early summer, the latter makes a red wine from the berries when they are dark purple and juicy in late summer/early autumn depending on the weather. You can certainly get dried ones from specialist home-brew shops - these are now few and far between but lots of them do mail-order so a bit of Googling should enable you to track some down.
