Blueberry bushes
5 Answers
Hi all, I've been toying with the idea of growing some blueberry bushes in large pots or tubs, this way I think I can manage the acidity requirements better.
I've seen the photo's in the seed catalogues and they appear to be heavy croppers and worth while growing and I dont mind sharing some with the birds if they really do yield that well.
So if anyone has any good tips or addvice on varieties etc I'd be pleased to hear from you. Thanks Tbird+

We did the same thing a few years ago, and stopped only when the space for the containers was needed for a strawberry patch. They do have, as you noted, a very low Ph requirement, which is more easily controlled in the containers.
Here's how one guy does it:

Best of luck! (The flower catalogs are coming fast and furious... they really know how to entice one into interest, in the dead of winter... it was -22F here last night)

Thanks Clanad, thats some useful stuff, I'm definately gonna give it my best shot, they are my favorite berry-fruit and I only usually buy them from the super market if I see them reduced to 1/2 price,as they can be pretty expensive!
BTW I think I must have posted about the same time or just after on the wisteria Q.
