How can I avoid having to log on at the Welcome page before going to my desk top.
I am running windows XP

Download and install TweakUI (it's free) from http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/p owertoys/xppowertoys.mspx then run it.

Expand Logon click Autologon, tick/check the box, fill in your username, if you have a password, click the Set Password button and fill in the details and click OK, then click Apply and OK and close TweakUI.

A word of warning: If there is more than one person using the computer note that the others will be logged onto your account - dont use this unless you are the only user.
