Waking too early!!
5 Answers
Has anyone got any ideas how I can get my 2 yr old daughter to stop getting up at 5am EVERY morning? I have tried keeping her up late to see if that helps but it doesn't! She doesn't even have a nap during the day and is on the go constantly. This is really starting to wear me out and I'm not sure how much more I can take! Thanks xx p.s. She's not hungry, thirsty, uncomfortable etc, think it's just getting to be a habit now.

If I remember rightly all three of my kids woke early at that age and certainly my grandaughter -who is now three- did it. She now goes to nursery school every day (just for the mornings) and the interaction with other kids and the constant activities wear her out so she sleeps til getting on for 7.30 every morning. The early waking habit does go in time!
Does she go to a toddler group? That might help.
Is her bedroom nice and dark? That might keep her asleep til natural light wakes her up. Best of luck!

My friend had this problem with he gorgeous little son. She told him when he came in to her room that it was still dark and the middle of the night and not time to get up yet. She then bought a noddy or some other character alarm clock and set it for later, telling him that this would tell him when it was time to get up, and it seems to have worked. The good thing is at this age they cannot tell the time so they should go on what you tell them! Good luck!
some children are just naturally early risers, my youngest who is now 7 usually gets up at about 5.45am and has done since she was small, all i can suggest is to make sure that she has lots of things to keep her occupied, a jigsaw that has all the pieces jumbled up on the floor ( we got to mixing 7 or 8 eventually), books etc.. and ignore her unless whatever she is doing is dangerous.
harriet finally learnt that she can play quietly and not to leave her room until we came to her, although now she tends to wake her sisters - working on that now lol!
