I have the message 'safe mode' on the digital display panel on my X registered 2.0 vectra after spending 1500 on repairs - does anyone know what it means - looked in the manual and can't find any reference.

well,if its the same as mine,ie limp mode. the car will only do a certain speed before shutting the engine down,so as no damage is caused to the car, generally if you leave it for 30 mins it goes back to normal.
doesnt this mean that the battery has been dissconnected and the radio requires its security code entering?

does your radio work, ie get sound out of it?
SAFE in the centre display means the radio has lost its code.

Thanks for your replies - the problem was the stereo as the battery had to be disconnected while the repairs were done.
