No, you get a blister that burns/ itches/ tingles a fair bit then it bursts and weeps then scabs over then goes away. It comes back intermittently depending on your immune system but subsequent outbreaks aren't as bad.

skreecheeboy is correct, genital herpes shouldn't itch although it is extremely painful at times. The first attack will always be the worst, and often you have difficulty in peeing, as it burns, but subsequent attacks should be less virilant and much less painful. Once you have had genital herpes it will remain in your body for the rest of your life. Some lucky people never have a recurrence and it will remain dormant, but most have regular recurrences. However, some herpes sufferers say they would rather have herpes than have a recurring bad back because its much easier to manage.
