lost programes

I have used system restore to restore to an earlier time.
When the rstore had finnished I could not get back on the net.When clicking on the net icon a list comes up and asks what do I want to open it with.Idid not get this before. I also can`t get help and support to try and restore again.can anyone help please

have you checked for viruses or spyware

i have run anti virus and antispy and it does not make any differance.
